Michael sellman, co-ceO (LONDON/LISBON)
Michael Sellman is Co-Chief Executive Officer of Calatrava Grace. Previously, he held leadership positions with Morgan Stanley Principal Investments, the firm’s $4 billion balance sheet private equity and special situations effort, where his responsibilities covered Europe, Russia, the Gulf, the Americas and the far east, and involved the governments of Dubai, China and Russia. Sellman began his career as a macro-economic strategist and currency derivatives trader at Morgan Stanley in New York and London. Sellman is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of Chatham House and the International Institute for Strategic Studies, guest lecturer at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, and vice chairman of the Souls Grown Deep Foundation, which is dedicated to preserving and promoting the African American artistic heritage of the southern United States. He speaks frequently about affordable housing and building technology, presenting in 2019 at the Astana Economic Forum and CAMCA Forum in Tashkent, and co-authoring a paper on urbanization for Uzbekistan’s Academy of Sciences. He was appointed in 2018 to the Republic of Kazakhstan’s Special Commission for Real Estate Investment. He holds a BA from Cornell University, where he was Class Marshal and student body vice president.
